Calling all seafood lovers…it is time to visit Octopussys in Howth!

Ireland is a fish lover’s paradise with fresh, organic, local seafood and clean, pristine waters. Salmon is king (and is celebrated in Irish mythology with the story of the “Salmon of Knowledge”), but salmon is only the beginning! The shellfish of Ireland is extraordinary and in restaurants along Dublin’s coast – you will see local Blue mussels, lobster, native Irish oysters, clams, Spider crab, scallops, Dublin Bay prawns, and periwinkles on the menus. You’ll find mackerel, sea bream, red mullet, Bluefiin tuna, Albacore, Bonito, Plaice, Turbot, John Dory, and Hake (to name a few) in Irish coastal waters.

Take the drive to Howth, a charming fishing village that is home to some interesting famous residents including U2´s drummer, actress Saoirse Ronan and TV chef Donal Skehan. Howth is world famous for seafood and you will enjoy lunch today at Octopussy’s, a much loved restaurant that has been serving local residents fresh fish for years! The Octopussy’s Seafood Tapas restaurant cooks up fish caught daily by the restaurant’s own fisherman! It doesn´t get much fresher than this. Your fishy extravaganza could include Dublin bay prawns or lobster from Balscadden Bay- served with great wines that compliment this restaurant’s delicious range of seafood tapas and other fish dishes.

“Worth a trip”

This lovely intimate restaurant has delicious fresh sea food for a great price. Prime music selection entertains all evening. Service is well done and well timed. This was the perfect end to a wonderful day in Howth during my visit and I definitely recommend it to anyone desiring a fun, delicious, and satisfying evening.

“Yum!!”

A few friends and I were in Howth mostly for the cliff walking, but the town itself was very charming. After finishing our walk mid afternoon, we were interested in grabbing a good seafood lunch. Most all of the pubs or bars we tried to go to were completely full, but we decided to give Octopussy’s a try. There was about a 15 minute wait around 3:15 PM, and we decided to take it. It was well worth the wait and completely exceeded my expectations. Even after having grown up eating good seafood my entire life, this was some of the best calamari I’ve ever eaten, and the Catalan stew was simply delightful. I tried a bite of my friends’ seafood chowder and prawns as well, and all of the dishes were excellent. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon and good food!!

“A real treat”

We were in Howth today and decided to visit Octopussy’s for a meal.
We were really lucky enough to get a seat and ordered a Chowder, potato bravas , baby octopus and chorizo squid.
The food was served up by a really friendly waitress and it was just amazing.
It was lovely to see the staff chatting & joking and it gave off a superbly friendly atmosphere.
My Chowder was just amazing and the rest of the dishes were superb .
Cooked and presented to absolute perfection.
I highly recommend a visit.
